Evidence for clonal disease by magnetic resonance imaging in patients with hypoplastic marrow disorders.

چکیده
Some patients with hypoplastic marrow disorders, including aplastic anemia (AA), are at risk for clonal evolution to myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and leukemia. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of marrow of the spine, pelvis, and femurs was performed in 24 patients with hypoplastic marrow disorders. In 12 patients (three AA, nine MDS) MRI was compatible with the clinical and biopsy diagnoses and served to define the spectrum of marrow patterns in these disorders. In eight patients with hypocellular marrow biopsies and a clinical diagnosis of AA, MRI showed an unexpected inhomogeneous or diffuse cellular pattern. Concurrent or subsequent marrow or cytogenetic studies have led to diagnoses of hypoplastic MDS in seven of these patients. In four patients with prolonged hypoplasia after bone marrow transplantation for lymphoma, a speckled pattern superimposed on a fatty background appeared in serial MRI studies. One case evolved to AML, two developed megaloblastic foci, and one remains hypoplastic at 19 months. This study suggests that MRI is able to detect early clonal disease in patients with AA, and can distinguish AA from hypoplastic MDS.

Study of Coincidence of Hoffa’s Fat Pad Associated Injuries in Knee Traumas in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Background and Objective: Hoffa’s fat pad injuries are often caused by acute direct and indirect trauma and chronic recurrent micro-trauma, and its disorders are associated with other traumas and injuries that have been less paid attention to in radiological studies. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the injuries associated with Hoffa’s fat pad injury in knee trauma using the diag...
متن کاملThe Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
متن کاملMagnetic Resonance Imaging of Central Nervous System and Paranasal Sinuses in Multiple Sclerosis Patients: Findings from a Survey of Clinical Records in Kermanshah Province
Background and Objectives: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common demyelinating disease of the central nervous system with more than 5.2 million people across the world being afflicted with. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a valuable tool in the diagnosis of MS. This study surveys the results of MRI of the central nervous system and paranasal sinuses in the sample of MS patients in Ker...
متن کاملAre magnetic resonance imaging or radiographic findings correlated with clinical prognosis in spinal cord neuropathy?
Dogs presented to the Small Animal Hospital of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tehran were included in the present study if spinal or intervertebral disc involvement was suspected. Clinical signs were recorded as well as general information of the patient such as age, breed and sex. Sixty dogs were examined radiographically and two standard orthogonal lateral and ventrodorsal projections wer...
متن کاملP28: Neuroimaging in Anxiety Disorders
In recent years, the development of neuroimaging techniques such as high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), positron emission tomography (PET), or single photon emission tomography (SPECT) has promoted the identification of structural and functional characteristics underlying mental disorders to a great extent. In anxiety disorders, recent...
